We had the pleasure of meeting Jenna Kelley from Narcity Miami recently and the Florida Associate Editor shared her visit online. Prompted by learning of Miami's oldest bar, Jenna shared her experience and a bit of Mac's Club Deuce. Although we would love to extend the legend of Mac Klein by eighteen years, we're compelled to keep his story straight.

There are many reasons why Mac's Club Deuce is a South Beach institution; longevity, decor, Mac, patrons. If these walls could talk! Islander News hits on many of the reasons this little dive bar has stood the test of time to locals and visitors alike. Where it's the many "best of" awards, cheap drinks or celebrity sightings, the glow of the neon lights draws people in and the vibes keep them coming back.

Today, like every September 19th, we celebrate the birthday of Mac Klein. Mac didn't just put his name to Club Deuce when he bought it in 1964; he put his heart and soul in this gem of a joint. Miami is frequently featured in movies and television series. Miami Vice brought the glitz and grit of Miami to American households on Friday nights in 1984–1989. As Hurricane Irma nears, Univision looks back to when the National Guard shutdown Mac's Club Deuce after Andrew in 1992. The costliest hurricane to date (until Katrina), Andrew devastated Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, and Kendall leveled, left South Beach flooded and without electricity.
