Journalism student Magdalene Taylor spent her last March vacation attempting to recreate the 2012 film Spring Breakers. Filmed in her college town, New College, Florida, Taylor and friends hit the beaches in and around Sarasota searching for the escapades found in the film and television series Siesta Key. What they found a scene with partiers twenty years older who preferred to start their nights early.
After their dismal start on the West Coast of Florida, they headed Southeast, to Miami's South Beach. Here they found what they were looking for, the hyper-exaggerated glitz and glam of spring break that most only think exists on film. With all the overcrowded streets, beaches, bars, and nightclubs, South Beach will always be the place to party like character in a movie. But for most, as Magdalene points out aren't prepared for the sticker shock of a South Beach vacation, especially during high season. The adventure of recreating a favorite film finally found it's way to Mac's Club Deuce. Taylor doesn't say how the group stumbled upon our little slice of paradise in the middle of chaos, but she appreciated our "unashamed and glorious" bar with Its 2-4-1 happy hour. Moral of the story. Stick with Mac's.
