With no-frills and unpretentious vibes all around, it's possible to carry on your spontaneous misadventures at any one of these fine watering holes.

We believe every good story starts at Mac's Club Deuce and it seems Scottish author J. B. Turner agrees. Often mentioned in newspapers and magazines, this time The Deuce is featured in a novel! Turner included everyone's favorite dive in his latest Jon Reznick thriller.

Most around Miami strive to be the most expensive of whatever they do, in an attempt to attract the 1% and those trying to get past their velvet rooms. Mac's Club Deuce sees things differently. Being considered the cheapest of the cheap is an accolade worth our time. Just in time for busy season, Eater Miami compiled their latest list of where to find a cheap drink in an often overly expensive town. Of course The Deuce is on the list.

This week staff writers at Miami New Times came up with a list of 100 Things to Do in Miami Before You Die. They joined forces at The Deuce devising their list on the back of our coasters as they downed cold beer and cheap drinks. At least, that's our story and we're sticking to it. Chances are high Deucers have crossed many of these things off their list; or at minimum numbers 2 and 25. We are, Forever No. 2

Dave Hoeksta from the Chicago Sun-Times reminisces about a recent visit to Mac's Club Deuce while in town for a Cubs-Marlins game. It wasn't his first time at The Deuce and hopefully not his last. Dave tells the story of John Hughes introducing him to Mac's when he (John) lived here, writing for the old Miami News. Dave uses the phrase smoke and mirrors and for many that's a literal description. We have a feeling it means a little more coming from Dave.

It's not the first time we've heard the likes of Keith Richards and Mac's Club Deuce in the same sentence. We can not confirm or deny. However, we can say, we know a man. Come find out for yourself.

Mac's Club Deuce has "transcended the destination" for close to a century and we're delight Playboy took notice. In the latest issue, Playboy compiled their list of the greatest bars in America and yours truly is on it.

We can't say when we first met Anthony Bourdain, but we know it was well before his latest visit. Like many, Bourdain thinks of Mac's Club Deuce as a home away from home. It's fitting for anyone considering our proprietor, Mac Klein has felt the same way for over forty years. It's always a delight when old friends walk through those double doors and this time it meant a little more.
