Today, like every September 19th, we celebrate the birthday of Mac Klein; owner of Mac's Club Deuce for over 50 years before he passed at the age of 101.

The lore of The Deuce runs parallel to those of Miami Beach. Rum Runs, gangsters, dirty politicians, hurricane; the history writes its own movie script.

Leave it to Miami native Paul Rubio to make sure Mac's Club Deuce is mentioned in an article In Condé Nast Traveler! While true Deucers know Mac's belongs in such revered publications like Zaget and CNT, we never thought we'd see the day. In his latest piece, Why There's Never Been a Better Time to Visit Miami–a compilation of work from numerous writers–Paul takes readers on an after sundown tour of Miami. So, thanks Paul, we agree, we "irresistibly lo-fi".

We had the pleasure of meeting Jenna Kelley from Narcity Miami recently and the Florida Associate Editor shared her visit online. Prompted by learning of Miami's oldest bar, Jenna shared her experience and a bit of Mac's Club Deuce. Although we would love to extend the legend of Mac Klein by eighteen years, we're compelled to keep his story straight.

There are many reasons why Mac's Club Deuce is a South Beach institution; longevity, decor, Mac, patrons. If these walls could talk! Miami is frequently featured in movies and television series. Miami Vice brought the glitz and grit of Miami to American households on Friday nights in 1984–1989. Members of the film crew frequented Mac's Club Deuce which was often featured in the series; most notably, thirty years ago today, in the series finale, Freefall, Season 5 Episode 17 Part 1.
