I have watched many a bartender work behind this bar over the years. Many memoriable, some forgettable, and a few transcend space and time. I watch over them as they bring joy, wit, wisdom, and snark to our patrons. They are family.

Today, I am saddened to share the heartbreaking news that our beloved bar manager Angel has passed away. Whether you knew Angel personally or just as one of your favorite bartenders, we know he touched your life. Always quick with a quip and a sage beyond his years, Angel lent his ear to all. A friend to many, a husband, father, son, cousin, nephew, Angel’s physical presences will be missed as his spirit will be with us always. So, wherever you may be in this world, raise a Fernet in his name.

Angel’s beloved wife Christie (our mastermind of merch and siren of socials) is arranging services to be held at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church in Hollywood, Florida on Friday, February, 13, 2026; their 11th wedding anniversary. A time will be given in the coming days. All are welcome.

We will announce a celebration of Angel’s life at Mac’s Club Deuce in the coming month.

As I walked in, I nearly collided with a man (it was Angel) who was heading outside. I looked around, took it all in, and asked the bartender if she knew about Tomata. She said she’d heard of him, but it was before her time. I asked if I could take a few photos, and she said yes.
